Crowns

Crowns

Crowns are used to:

  •  Protect a tooth that underwent root canal treatment
  •  Act as an abutment or anchor to a dental bridge
  •  Complete an implant restoration
  •  Strengthen a tooth that is damaged or fractured

If you have a tooth that needs to be replaced or restored, Dr. Mitchell Gardiner or Dr. Christopher Di Turi may suggest placing a dental crown on that tooth.

A dental crown or “cap”, is commonly used to restore a tooth that has been significantly damaged or shows considerable decay. The dental crown will be made to fit over the existing tooth and be shaped in such a way to restore the tooth to its original shape and size.

Typically dental crowns are made of porcelain or porcelain fused to metal, also known as PFM crowns. Porcelain crowns are the most popular because they most closely match the natural color and appearance of your teeth.
