Dental Exams

A dental exam is usually performed in conjunction with a dental cleaning. During your routine checkup, our dentist will examine your teeth and gums for any issues or potential issues such as

  • Tooth decay
  • Periodontal disease, including gingivitis (inflammation the gums)
  • Other signs of any damaging dental conditions or diseases

Dental X-Rays

Dental x-rays are usually taken during a patient’s routine checkup visit. Our dental team utilize dental X-rays to further evaluate your smile and make certain that you receive the dental care you need. X-rays allow our staff to see potential issues that are invisible to the naked eye, such as tooth decay or impacted teeth.

Our office is able to take panoramic x-rays which allows Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Di Turi to see the entirety of your mouth which is needed for more extensive treatments, such as implants or full mouth reconstruction.

Xrays assist the dentists to treat more conservatively and identifying cavities and issues of bone loss before the conditions worsen.

Dr. Gardiner and Di Turi are fortunate to have state-of-the-art equipment and are able to work with many x-rays technologies, including traditional film xrays, digital xrays and 3D scans.

Our office has recently purchased a NOMAD PRO 2, a handheld portable x-ray unit, to continue to be on the cutting edge of dental technologies.

The DIAGNOdent laser system allows Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Di Turi to easily detect and identify dental cavities in their early/initial state.

This is a state-of-the-art laser optic system which will detect very early cavity/decalcifications in your teeth. Often these are too small to detect traditionally.

With the use of these system, Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Di Turi are able to identify and treat these cavities very conservatively.
