Preventative

Our main focus is preventive dentistry as it helps patients retain their healthy, natural teeth. It is better to prevent dental issues from occurring than to treat the problem after. Dr. Mitchell Gardiner and Dr. Christopher Di Turi are waiting to see you.

Dental Cleanings

A dental cleaning is one of most important preventive treatments we provide at our office. Our professional team of hygienists will provide you with an extensive teeth cleaning to help your smile stay healthy. During your visit our dental team will:

  • Clean your teeth by removing any plaque (also called dental calculus), which if left untreated will lead to tooth decay and eventually periodontal disease
  • Floss and polish your teeth for a healthy, bright smile
Dental Exams

A dental exam is usually performed in conjunction with a dental cleaning. During your routine checkup, our dentist will examine your teeth and gums for any issues or potential issues such as

  • Tooth decay
  • Periodontal disease, including gingivitis (inflammation the gums)
  • Other signs of any damaging dental conditions or diseases
Dental X-rays

Dental x-rays are usually taken during a patient’s routine checkup visit. Our dental team utilize dental X-rays to further evaluate your smile and make certain that you receive the dental care you need. X-rays allow our staff to see potential issues that are invisible to the naked eye, such as tooth decay or impacted teeth.

Our office is able to take panoramic x-rays which allows Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Di Turi to see the entirety of your mouth which is needed for more extensive treatments, such as implants or full mouth reconstruction.

Xrays assist the dentists to treat more conservatively and identifying cavities and issues of bone loss before the conditions worsen.

Dr. Gardiner and Di Turi are fortunate to have state-of-the-art equipment and are able to work with many x-rays technologies, including traditional film xrays, digital xrays and 3D scans.

Our office has recently purchased a NOMAD PRO 2, a handheld portable x-ray unit, to continue to be on the cutting edge of dental technologies.

Dental Sealants

A sealant is a thin, protective coating that is placed in the nooks of your teeth to prevent food and bacteria from being trapped there. This coating can help keep cavities from forming and may even stop early stages of decay from becoming a more substantial cavity.

Dental sealants are proven in well-documented scientific literature as well by the Center for Disease Control. These sealants have been shown to reduce the risk of decay by nearly 80% in molars.

Diagnodent

The DIAGNOdent laser system allows Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Di Turi to easily detect and identify dental cavities in their early/initial state. This is a state-of-the-art laser optic system which will detect very early cavity/decalcifications in your teeth. Often these are too small to detect traditionally. With the use of these system, Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Di Turi are able to identify and treat these cavities very conservatively.

Oral Hygiene Instructions & Education

Our staff will provide you with the most effective approaches to maintain good oral home-care, by demonstrating the proper techniques so together we can ensure that your gums, teeth and mouth stay healthy.

Dr. Gardiner and Dr. Di Turi are strong proponents of keeping a daily routine of brushing your teeth, flossing your teeth and rinsing your mouth with mouthwash. These simple steps go a long way in keeping your teeth and gums in optimal health by reducing the bacteria that are the main causes of cavities and periodontal disease.

Our staff also provides education with proper nutritional advice and counseling. Our doctors have a strong knowledge in treating dry mouth conditions.
